Great Football Goals
Talking about the players at Arsenal who aren't yet regulars in the first team.
What a night! What a win for Arsenal! From the first minute Arsenal were playing like a team on a mission. Arsenal looked nervous however and a number of their midfield passes found their way to their ex-team mate Vieira. Arsenal's big break came on the 40th minute when Fabregas got booked for a foul on Vieira. Moments later Pires won the ball well from Vieira and released Henry who in turn found the forward run of Cesc making a superb run into the area. A beaufitful dummy from Cesc wrong footed Buffon allowing his shot to hit the back of the net. 1-0 and Arsenal were looking better and better. Henry went close before half time but they went in 1-0 at the break.
"He comes from Senegal, he played for Arsenal..."
Ryan Smith was somewhat sidelined last season with the rise of David Bentley. Smith went on loan for most of this season but has recently returned to Arsenal after a successful spell with Leicester. With Bentley having moved on surely Smith will get a chance this summer to stake a case for a go in the first team.
Theo Walcott scored his first home goal for the club and Sol Campbell came through another 90 minutes. Also Robin Van Persie continued his comeback from injury to setup Walcott's goal.
There were a few things that came out of Arsenal's 2-1 win over Liverpool. Firstly the fact that Henry is truely irreplaceable, his goals today were only half of the story, his movement and footballing brain were on display too. Secondly the development of Cesc Fabregas continues unabated. He was simply awesome today, carrying on his good form from the Real Madrid games. He's got great vision and that's something you can't teach on the training ground. Finally it seems that Arsenal have finally found a way to play without Vieira. Hleb on the right with Eboue are finally giving Arsenal a real threat on the right side. Hleb was left out of Arsenal's games in the run up to the Madrid tie. Since then he's been playing like a new player, he seems to have found his feet at last. Hleb is similar to Fabregas and also has a great eye for a pass. With Eboue running on the overlap Hleb has a variety of options for the pass going forward. Finally Adebayor is really giving Arsenal a different shape up front, he's the striker we've needed for the last few years. A player who has size and likes to play straight through the middle. I'm sure he'll start scoring goals regularly once he's fully integrated into the team. With Reyes, Van Persie, Walcott & Diaby in and around the team you have to think the future is bright for Arsenal.
The Champions League draw has opened up the way for Arsenal to reach the final. This game against Juve is huge!

Could this become a regular sight? Beckham in an Arsenal shirt... Myles Palmer thinks so. I'm kind of divided. Beckham would bring an extra dimention to Arsenal and if he could lose some of the hype he'd be a better player. He also lives 20 minutes from the training ground (Beckingham Palace is on the edge of Harlow, Victoria has visited our local hospital a few times with Romeo and Brooklyn). I guess a move to Arsenal is pretty big possibility, especially now that the Real Madrid 'Galactico' era is at an end. I think the Arsenal fans would welcome him, we could do with a few more English players.

2 goals from Henry and 1 a piece from Adebayor and Fabregas. Henry was simply worldclass today. He was everywhere. His performance lifted the whole team. Flamini crossing left footed for Fabregas' goal was pretty sweet too. All set now for Wednesday's game against Real.
Arjen Robben and Jose Mourinho are a beautiful partnership. So skillful yet totally devoid of class. What does Mourinho think he looks like when he makes faces and whines like a donkey!? How about Robben? Gets players sent off and then complains when he is sent off in a similar manner.
According to O Blog do Alex Socrates' book will be translated into English. Should be an interesting read. Alex also makes an interesting point about the influence of a name.
Ok so let's recap... England play duff fall behind but the opposition give up early and England win. This is becoming a recurring theme for England. That tactic is fine in friendlies but when competition time rolls around teams tend to be a little more focussed.
