Fabregas & Henry finish off Liverpool with the help of Steven Gerrard

There were a few things that came out of Arsenal's 2-1 win over Liverpool. Firstly the fact that Henry is truely irreplaceable, his goals today were only half of the story, his movement and footballing brain were on display too. Secondly the development of Cesc Fabregas continues unabated. He was simply awesome today, carrying on his good form from the Real Madrid games. He's got great vision and that's something you can't teach on the training ground. Finally it seems that Arsenal have finally found a way to play without Vieira. Hleb on the right with Eboue are finally giving Arsenal a real threat on the right side. Hleb was left out of Arsenal's games in the run up to the Madrid tie. Since then he's been playing like a new player, he seems to have found his feet at last. Hleb is similar to Fabregas and also has a great eye for a pass. With Eboue running on the overlap Hleb has a variety of options for the pass going forward. Finally Adebayor is really giving Arsenal a different shape up front, he's the striker we've needed for the last few years. A player who has size and likes to play straight through the middle. I'm sure he'll start scoring goals regularly once he's fully integrated into the team. With Reyes, Van Persie, Walcott & Diaby in and around the team you have to think the future is bright for Arsenal.

What about Liverpool then? What are they doing with so many duff strikers in their squad? I've never rated Morientes, Crouch has always been a tall player who can't play. Cisse is a fast player who can't control the ball. Fowler is a world class striker who's past his best. Liverpool need to find a couple of world class strikers for next season, of course they'll also need to work out what to do with their current crop of forwards.

On another note I found it very ironic that in a week when Arsenal have been critisized for not playing English players two of England's best players have been unable to been the Gunners. Beckham looked lame for Real and Gerrard provided a wonderful assist for Thierry Henry (pressure from Fabregas set this one up) to score the winning goal against Liverpool. Do we need to look any further to see why Wenger hasn't splashed out on English players? Overrated and subsequently overpriced. Wenger will have English players in the team but they'll come from within the youth setup.

Arsenal 2 - 1 Liverpool - 4th spot could now be within Arsenal's reach if not this year's Champions League.
